AI Factory and SmartCityHub partner for AI innovation

AI innovation moves faster when strong ecosystems work together. In this spirit, the Luxembourg AI Factory and SmartCityHub, Luxembourg’s national Testing and Experimentation Facility to test smart city technologies within the CitCom.ai initiative co-funded by the European Union, have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create a direct path from AI development to real-world testing. This partnership strengthens Luxembourg's role in Europe's AI ecosystem by connecting compute resources with smart city experimentation facilities. Coming soon after the recent agreement with DFKI, this MoU reflects growing momentum and a clear ambition to build a more connected and collaborative environment for AI development.

How the partnership supports AI innovators

This collaboration is grounded in a shared belief that innovation progresses more effectively when ecosystems work together. By combining their strengths, the Luxembourg AI Factory and SmartCityHub aim to make it easier for organisations to explore, design and validate new AI solutions, while increasing visibility and opportunities for the projects emerging in Luxembourg.

Both partners are focused on practical impact. They want to help innovators find the right expertise faster, open doors to new collaborations and move promising ideas towards deployment with clarity and confidence.

From AI development to real-world testing

The MoU helps create a smooth and supportive journey for AI innovators. SmartCityHub will guide its partners and customers towards the Luxembourg AI Factory whenever they need computing capacity or expert services to develop their AI models. In return, the Luxembourg AI Factory will direct its users to SmartCityHub when they require a controlled smart‑city environment to test AI‑driven solutions safely and transparently under realistic conditions. 

Together, the partners will: 

• Co-host events, webinars and workshops
• Coordinate lead referrals and develop joint strategies
• Share expertise and exchange knowledge
• Explore opportunities to co‑create tools, platforms, training or technologies that benefit the wider community.
